Kyle Drabek

Blogger won't cooperate, so the live updates of the draft are on hold for now. All you really need to know is that the Phillies took RHP Kyle Drabek from The Woodlands (Texas) HS with the 18th overall pick in the draft. Drabek was number two on my wishlist of Phillies potential draft targets (behind only Bishop Eustace's Billy Rowell, who went number nine to Baltimore)...needless to say, I'm ecstatic over the selection.

Nothing to do with anything, but check out Schilling's sponsor on his baseballreference.com page: "If Curt Schilling can do to the rest of the American League what he does to a Whitman's Sampler, the Red Sox will be monsters this year." Ha ha. Another weird I noticed is that Schilling's 1993 season was actually one of his worst as a starter. And '92 was one of his best! That was all before he became a strikeout machine though.

Man oh man do I love a good Whitman's Sampler joke - the site that sponsored the page (noMaas.org) is actually pretty cool (they have an article where they absolutely tear Bill Simmons apart, always a good time).
